Madoca Kawahara Bio

 

Madoca is a world-class pianist/ keyboardist and composer. Her style is a fusion of Smooth/ Contemporary Jazz, Soul, Funk, Salsa, and Jazz Fusion providing musical sustenance for your mind and soul. She’s got her scholarship program at Nemu Music, where she studied jazz piano, theory, ensemble, and composition. Madoca has performed at many prestigious venues across the world including Hong Kong Coliseum, Centennial Olympic Park, Madison Square Garden, and many more. The latter of which was a part of a 100 show world tour with multi-platinum recording artist Jacky Cheung in Australia, Canada, China, France, Holland, Hongkong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. She composed a song titled, "Chicago Story" sang by Sandy Lam in China 94' (It has been a hit on the charts).  Madoca's selection, "I Don't Cry Anymore" was the winner of a contest called Song Writer's Quest, a competition organized by the CASH. She has also worked with Eric Marienthal, Paul Young, All 4 One, and many more.

In 2003, Madoca finally made the move to the U.S., where she settled in Atlanta, GA and formed band called Madoca & Company.

 

She performed the Joe Sample (RIP), Herbie Hancock, and Ramsey Lewis (RIP) Tribute Concerts with FL Productions.She has also opened for Chris Botti, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, Richard Elliott, India Arie, and Pamela Williams, as well as working with Michael Henderson (RIP), Jean Carne, and Tracy Hamlin, to name a select few. Madoca has performed as one of headliners at the Michelob GOT JAZZ Concert, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Wednesday Wind Down Centennial Olympic Park, etc. Her musical influences include the aforementioned Hancock, Lewis and Sample, as well as Chick Corea, the Jeff Lorber Fusion, Jimmy Smith, George Duke (RIP) and Eddie Palmieri, yet, her style is uniquely her own. Madoca is the real deal and deserves your attention.

 

Madoca has released two smooth/ contemporary jazz albums and one jazz fusion album, “Mysterious Ways…”, “Amethyst” produced by Madoca and Prince proj. “Illusions of Love” album produced by Bob Baldwin. Song titled/ singles, “On the Beach (with you)”, “Surrender”, “Illusions of love” (from the disc, “Illusions of Love”) have been on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Most Added lists and Smooth jazz charts (2017 ~ 2019). Madoca’s 6th Single "Angel Time" has been released on June 24, 2022, produced by the legendary Kim Waters. "Angel Time" was on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Most Added list on July 9, 2022 and Smooth jazz charts and Smooth Jazz Network in the Top 100 Charts from July through December, 2022. "Angel Time" along with other songs mentioned above have been getting radio airplay nationally and internationally. Her new single “New Vibrations” will be released on March 31, 2023, produced by Kim Waters.

Madoca has released a single on March 31, 2023 (going for radio adds on April 3rd. 2023.) The track is titled “New Vibrations”.

This is the 2nd single that Madoca has worked with Kim Waters since her last single, “Angel Time”.

The pianist has been honing her chops between releases and perfectly executes the sub-Jazz genres of Contemporary, Smooth, with hip “New Vibrations”. Produced by the legendary, Kim Waters.

Her latest single, “Love Frequency - Her Wisdom, My Peace”, released on June 5, 2026, is a self-produced, piano-led instrumental that brings together the warmth of smooth jazz with a relaxed, light-filled atmosphere. Featuring an international ensemble of musicians, the track is shaped by an understated groove and an expressive melodic approach, reflecting her evolving sound while staying rooted in the warmth and sincerity that define her music. The single marks the beginning of a new chapter in her music, with more releases to follow.
